Waitakere United and Auckland City combined for a nine goals on Saturday in a see-saw affair.
Waitakere's Ryan De Vries had a hat-trick inside 58 minutes, giving his team a 3-2 lead. James Hoyt and Rory Kelly had scored for the AUckland City side in the first hour.
Waitakere's Jason Hicks made it 4-2 after 69 minutes before Tim Payne replied for Auckland City with 10 minutes to go.
Dakota Lucas capped Waitakere's effort with an insurance goal two minutes into stoppage time and it was needed with Daniel Morgan pulling back the final score to 5-4 four minutes into added time.
Meanwhile Auckland Manukau United FC came from behind for a 3-1 victory away to Hawke's Bay United.
Max Logan opened the scoring for the home side after half and hour but three unanswered second half strikes from Ross Haviland, Harrison Nash (penalty) and George Konusi secured the points.
