Coach Education chance at AFF Pre Season Cup

The AFF Pre-Season Cup gets a Coach Education boost with news of an informal workshop and NZF Youth Level 2 Coaching Award.

Auckland Football Federation FDO Nic Downes is excited by the prospect of delivering two valuable opportunities.

“With the release of the NZF Youth Framework and National Curriculum in 2016, this is a perfect opportunity to make coaches aware of the direction set within these documents. Both workshops on offer will have tactical themes and link in to the pre-season cup as well as setting coaches up with tools to guide them during the upcoming season”

The first is an Auckland Football Coaches Network Workshop focused on Halftime team talks.

This is followed by the NZF Youth Level 2 Coaching Award that targets tactical coaching.

PSCup700x414px“We’re asking coaches in the AFF/NFF Metropolitan Youth League to start working towards the NZF Youth Level 2 Coaching Award with our objective to see as many coaches as possible obtain an NZF Youth Level 3 Coaching Award by 2019. While the focus is initially on the Metro grades, we hope to raise the coaching level across Conference and Girls Premier grades over the coming seasons as well.

“We are also excited to be able support coaches with attaining these qualifications through community funding we have secured. The partial funding allows us to reduce course costs for Youth Level 2 modules from $80 to $60 for Boys Metro and Girls Premier coaches this season” he said.

The AFCN Informal Workshop on Halftime team talks is scheduled for Sunday 5 March at 3pm and runs for an hour.

The cost of the workshop is free.

The NZF Youth Level 2 Coaching Award begins at 4.30pm and runs for three hours.

This module focuses on understanding the tactical needs of players, exploring effective game day strategies, developing coach knowledge and designing tactical training sessions.

The cost of the course is $80 per person ($60 for Boys Metro and Girls Premier coaches).

Both courses run from McLennan Park, Papakura, during the AFF Pre-Season Cup.
