AFF Futsal’s U-15 Girl’s, U-14 and U-16 Boy’s sides each notched big wins on the opening day of the NZF National Youth Futsal Championships.
The most impressive of the three, a 14-0 victory for the Rhys Greensill coached U-15 Girl’s over Football South, after going down 3-0 earlier in the day to WaiBOP.
Greensill was pleased with his teams performance, one that was led by a four-goal haul to Petra Buyck.
“It was a great come back win after the disappointing first up result against WaiBOP,” Greensill said.
“Although South were clearly suffering from their long journey to get to the tournament today, our girls stuck to their game plan and didn’t drop their standards when the score blew out.”
“It was also really pleasing that seven of the eight outfielders scored,” Greensill added.
The U-14 and U-16 boys sides also reached double digits on day one with both putting 10 past Northern and Capital respectively.
Bakr Al-Saudi’s U-19 Boy’s also picked up wins on day one with a closely fought encounter against WaiBOP ending 4-3 before a 3-1 victory over Football South while Nic Downes’ U-19 girls notched a 1-0 victory over WaiBOP before narrowly going down to Canterbury United 3-2.
The action continues tomorrow at the Central Energy Trust Arena from 9am.
